4 Ways Forward Event

Stop Treading Water. Start Building Your Future.

Are you stuck in a job that has reached its ceiling? Are you sick of sitting stagnant behind a desk each day? Are you fed up waiting patiently for promised pay parity? Or are you starting out in your career and want a path without a load of college debt?

If you’re a woman in Northeastern Wisconsin and this sounds like you, Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 400 invites you to explore the pipetrades at our career awareness fair, 4 Ways Forward, on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Explore the essential world of pipe trades: four separate disciplines—plumbing, steamfitting, HVAC/R service, and pipe fabrication—that each pledge equal pay, exceptional benefits, and specialized skill training. All without a traditional four-year degree.

Whether you’re looking for a fresh start or a pivot, we’ll show you how the pipetrades can provide the direction you’ve been seeking.

Snacks & Drinks will be provided.

Who is 4 Ways Forward Meant For?

  • The Career Pivoter: For the woman who has reached a ceiling in her current role and is ready to transition into a career that offers equal pay, professional respect, and a clear path to mastery.
  • The Veteran Trailblazer: For women who have served our country and are looking for a civilian career that matches their discipline, technical aptitude, and leadership skills. Transition into a mission-driven environment where your experience is valued.
  • The Re-Entry Professional: For stay-at-home moms preparing to re-enter the workforce as their children head back to school. Secure your financial independence and build a stable, long-term future for your family with a lifelong skill.
  • The High School Student or Graduate: For current upperclassmen or recent graduates looking for a high-paying, debt-free alternative to a traditional four-year degree. Start your professional journey with an apprenticeship that lets you “earn while you learn” from day one.
  • The “Hamster Wheel” Escapist: For women currently stuck in the cycle of retail, food service, or entry-level roles that offer no growth. Trade the inconsistent hours and dead-end shifts for a career with a structured path to a six-figure earning potential.
  • The Practical Maker: For the hands-on problem solver who enjoys technical puzzles and building tangible things. If you find satisfaction in seeing the direct results of your labor, you belong in the trades.
  • The Mentor or Counselor: For high school guidance counselors, career coaches, and community mentors who want to learn about the lucrative, stable, and life-changing opportunities available to women at UA Local 400.

The event is free, but capacity is limited. Please register to save your spot.

If you’re unable to attend on February 24th, register in our Career Portal to stay up-to-date.

Women in the Pipetrades

Tradeswomen Build Nations Conference

Each year, Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 400 sends delegates to NBTU’s Tradeswomen Build Nations conference to network with other women professionals across the construction trades. In 2025, eight members of our women’s committee earned this opportunity. To learn more about this conference, hear from Mark McManus and his guests on Pipe Up!, the official podcast of the UA’s General President.
