Training Opportunities
UA Local 400 owns and operates a 61,000 sq. ft. Training Center in Kaukauna, WI that is registered and approved by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training. We have a full-time Training Coordinator and full-time Welding Coordinator on staff, allowing us to tailor and implement training to specific job and contractor needs. UA Local 400 invests over $2.8 million dollars annually for training and has secured an additional $1,300,000+ in grants from the United Association for upgrading training-related equipment at our two facilities.
Apprenticeship programs are available in Fabrication, HVAC/R Service, Plumbing, and Steamfitting. Our Apprentices and Journeyworkers are trained to the highest standards possible and are taught by certified United Association Instructors. The core curriculum creates the foundation of skills necessary to become a Journeyworker in the Pipe Trades.
Our Apprenticeship Training, along with the continued Journeyworker training is an assurance to our signatory contractors their employees are trained to the highest standards. By facilitating the training needs of the membership, we maximize their employability and prepare them for changes in the industry. The longevity of our careers is directly related to our ability to keep current in old and new technology, knowledge and skills. Our combined Journeyworker to Apprentice ratio provides signatory contractors with an average cost that is competitive with area standards.
