UA LOCAL 400

Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local 400 is comprised of approximately 2,500 members serving eighteen counties in Northeast Wisconsin. We are a local union that is affiliated with the United Association of Plumbers & Pipefitters, comprised of approximately 355,000 members across the United States and Canada. Our mission is to be the preferred choice for industries, employers and workers specializing in plumbing, steamfitting, HVAC/R service and pipe fabrication as well as training for our members and providing qualified manpower to our over 100 signatory contractors.  

UA Local 400 operates a referral system that supplies qualified manpower to our signatory contractors. This is a skill-based referral system with the primary purpose of providing the contractor/customer with the craft person that possesses the necessary skills for specific job requirements. All UA Local 400 members are required to participate in our substance abuse testing program. All referrals are filled on a non-discriminatory basis.  UA Local 400 follows the UA’s three important standards: Standard for Excellence, Safety and Productivity.

UA Local 400 owns and operates a 61,000 square foot Training Center in Kaukauna, WI and a 5,600 square foot satellite Training Center in Fond du Lac, WI registered and approved by the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.  We have a full-time Training Coordinator and full-time Welding Coordinator on staff, allowing us to tailor and implement training to specific job and contractor needs. UA Local 400 invests over $2.8 million dollars annually for training and has secured an additional $1,300,000+ in grants from the United Association for upgrading training-related equipment at our two facilities.
