Pipe Welders Appreciation Day is 4/15/2026!

The pipe welders, fabricators, steamfitters, gas fitters, and pipe fitters of America and Canada are the unsung architects of everyday life. These skilled professionals fabricate, install, maintain, and repair the piping systems that are essential to the safety, efficiency, and infrastructure of our nations. Their hands-on expertise spans an enormous range of critical work, from pipelines and power plants to factories, hospitals, and commercial buildings, ensuring that the systems powering our homes, schools, and communities function safely every single day. Steamfitters keep hospital heating systems running, support electricity generation, and sustain industrial production, while welders ensure that every joint in oil and gas pipelines, water systems, and power generation facilities meets strict safety codes and industry standards. Gas fitters and pipe fitters, meanwhile, are responsible for the safe delivery of the natural gas and process fluids that heat our buildings and fuel our manufacturing economies.

The contributions of these men and women go far beyond the visible structures we see; they protect public health and national security in ways most people never consider. These tradespeople are the backbone of critical infrastructure work, helping to build, maintain, and protect the systems that keep communities safe, healthy, and thriving. With a legacy of over 135 years, the pipe trades have set the benchmark for quality, safety, and professionalism in North American construction, and that tradition of excellence lives on in every weld, every fitting, and every system these dedicated workers bring to life. On this day of recognition, we celebrate not only their extraordinary skill and craftsmanship, but the quiet, indispensable role they play in sustaining the health and strength of our nations.

On the third Wednesday in April, join UA Local 400, the United Association’s only local with a pipe fabrication apprenticeship, in celebrating the men and women who keep it flowin’ in the US and Canada.
